Researching all things political in #Myanmar. Teaching focus on South and Southeast Asian Studies.

Has taught comparative politics at Sciences Po Paris, France and the University of Hong Kong (Center of Asian Studies, Department of Politics and Public Administration).

Awarded fellowships from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars (Washington DC) and the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS-Yusof Ishak) in Singapore.

Author of four books on Myanmar's international and domestic political dynamics:

Caretaking Democratization: The Military and Political Change in Myanmar (Oxford University Press & Hurst, 2016), Soldiers and Diplomacy in Burma: The Foreign Policies of the Burmese Praetorian State [with Larry Jagan] (NUS Press, 2013), Histoire de la Birmanie contemporaine: le pays des pretoriens (Fayard, 2010), and Wooing the Generals: India's New Burma Policy (Authorspress, 2003).

Co-editor (with Francois Robinne) of Metamorphosis: Studies in Social and Political Change in Myanmar (NUS Press, 2015).
